Anna Ruth Allbrooks
January 16, 1948-July 1, 2021 of Columbia, South Carolina
Anna Ruth Allbrooks, 73, passed away peacefully after an extended illness, at Baptist Medical Center in Columbia SC on Thursday, July 1, 2021.
Anna Ruth Allbrooks was born on January 16, 1948 to the late Lonnie and Dilcie Allbrooks in Chesterfield, SC.
Anna Ruth Allbrooks was educated in the Chesterfield County school system and graduated from high school in 1966. Anna enjoyed playing basketball throughout her tenure in school. She began her career in healthcare following high school, as a Certified Nursing Assistant.
Anna Ruth Allbrooks and Ervin Drake Jr. united in marriage, and to this union they had three children; Tony, Ervena, and Aaron. Although she and Mr. Drake parted ways; they remained friends until the end.
Ms. Allbrooks dedicated over 20 years as a Unit Secretary at various healthcare facilities in both SC and NC. She later retired in 2009 from Charlotte-Mecklenburg Hospital. Anna had a way with comforting others with her upbeat energy and evoking laughter upon loved ones and strangers. In her spare time, she enjoyed writing short stories and poems. She enjoyed watching movies, singing and listening to music for hours.
She leaves to cherish her memories: three children; a son, Antwonne C. Drake (Wendy) of Chesterfield, SC; a daughter, Ervena C. Muller (Adrien) of Columbia, SC; and a son, Aaron J. Drake of Columbia, SC; two sisters, Peggy Ann Johnson of Irmo, SC and Charity Ann Henderson (Nathanial) of Irmo, SC; two brothers, Lonnie Alsbrooks Jr. (Yvonne) of Pageland, SC and Lee Verne Alsbrooks of Charlotte, NC; four grandchildren, Adrienne Benefield (Corey) of Tampa, FL; Jerell Drake of Columbia, SC; Shelena Muller of Columbia, SC; and Shania Muller of Columbia, SC; a special nephew, Lonnie Alsbrooks of Pageland, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and former co-workers that will cherish memories of her infectious smile, cheerful spirit, and uncanny sense of humor.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Lonnie and Dilcie Alsbrooks; two sisters, Martha Mae Allbrooks and Mary Ellen Cash; three brothers, James Calvin Alsbrooks, Tommy Lee Alsbrooks, and Lee Wilson Alsbrooks.
