OBITUARY
MR. JERRY I. COLLINS, son of the late Jeremiah Collins and the late Lizzie Townsend Collins was born March 2, 1948, in Sumter, South Carolina.
Jerry graduated from Rowland High School in 1967. After graduating he married and moved to Charlotte, NC to raise his family. Jerry began working for Zagora Gear as a machinist and did so for 38 years. He was so proud of his job and knew he was the best machinist money could buy.
Jerry married Emma Anderson Collins on November 9, 1996 and became a member of Myers Tabernacle AME Zion church. Jerry was a lifetime member of the Modern Free & Accepted Masons of the World, Inc. He served as a worship master for more than 20 years.
When Zagora closed, he began working for Northeast Tool & Manufacturing, where he retired in 2020. Jerry was a respectable man to his co-workers and family and will always be "JC from the QC."
On Thursday, October 26, 2023, he departed this life.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Emma Jean Anderson Collins, of Charlotte, North Carolina, two sisters, Mrs. Isabella Collins Lewers of Fayetteville, North Carolina; Dr. Nettie Collins-Hart (Mike) of Florissant, Missouri; one brother, Tyrone Collins of Gainesville, Florida, children, Thomas Collins, of the home, Casandra Collins and Sharon Lasco, both of Charlotte, North Carolina, grandchildren, Mr. Robert Rankin, Jr. (Wendy), of Monroe, Mr. Jeremy Fluker (Suzie), Ms. Latia Collins, both of Charlotte, North Carolina, Ms. Jasmine Fluker of Mebane, Ms. Thomeka Collins, and Mr. Daniel Black, both of Charlotte, North Carolina; nieces, Mrs. Mary McDonald, and Dr. Miah Hart-Olivis
(Reggie), both of Durham, North Carolina; nephews, Mr. Stevie Adkins of Washington,
D.C., and Mr. Michael Hart, Jr., of Durham, North Carolina, Mr. Justice Collins, Mr. Stefan Collins, and Mr. Kingston Collins, all of Gainesville, Florida, and a host of great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and other relatives and devoted friends.
Jerry was preceded in death by one sister, Dorethea Collins, and two brothers: Johnson Collins, and Henry Thomas Collins.
Mr. Collins also leaves to honor his memory stepdaughters: Jacinda Anderson and Tisha Thompson (Alvin), both of Birmingham, Alabama, and Angela Diggs of Charlotte, North Carolina, special family, Neshia Banks and Jermaine Mack of Greensboro, North Carolina, Leyah Banks, of the home, and Brandon Banks, all of Charlotte, North Carolina.
