Our beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and friend went home to be with her heavenly father on July 28, 2020 at the age of 91. She left us while sleeping peacefully at Woodhaven Nursing Home in Albemarle, N.C. Lora C. Smith was born on July 16, 1929 in Peachland North Carolina to the late Rev. Crump Cleve and Effie Boggin Clark. Lora was one of five siblings . Lora was reared on the farm and enjoyed helping her father with chores around the farm. Lora continued to have a passion for botany she was always planting flowers around her home. Lora Smith was educated in the Anson County Public School System where she graduated from East Polkton High School. Lora loved basketball; she was on the women’s basketball team in high school and was admired as an excellent basketball player. Lora married Edward George Smith and this union was blessed with three children. Carolyn, Barbara and Munsur. Lora was a Believer and a woman of faith; and lived her life serving others in the church and community. She was a devoted member of New Zion Baptist Church in Peachland NC, where she served as a Deaconess. Missionary work was her calling to serve the Lord. She was a woman of stature. Lora was sometimes called Loresta or Aunt Loe by family and friends. She was friendly generous, caring, and fun loving. She was a good listener to everyone. She always had a warm smile and expressed words of kindness to all. Everyone who visited her home was treated with warmth and kindness. Lora was an excellent housekeeper and adored decorating. In her leisure she enjoyed spending time with her sisters, shopping, visiting friends and family. Lora was trusted by many she was a childcare provider to children in the community. She leaves to cherish her loving memories_ son Munsur (Carolyn )Ismail of New York; one sister Helen Hartwell, Norwood NC, a special grandson Christopher Smith, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, god daughter Monique and her special friends Lilly Ingram and Mildred Burns. Lora was preceded in death by two daughters, Carolyn and Barbara and one brother Hesham, two sisters Lucille Ledbetter, and Mary Ledbetter.
