Mrs. Mavis Louise Funderburk Austin
Mavis Louise Funderburk Austin daughter of the late Mary Lee Funderburk. She was born on August 24, 1939, in Chesterfield County, South Carolina. She peacefully entered into her eternal rest on Saturday, November 25, 2023, at her home in Pageland, South Carolina.
Mavis was educated by the Chesterfield County School system. She was a dedicated homemaker creating a warm and welcoming environment for all those that had the pleasure of visiting her home. Later she went on to become a seamstress at a local industry.
Mavis was a member of Flint Ridge Missionary Baptist Church. Her faith was unwavering and served as a source of strength and comfort throughout her life.
Mavis found immense joy in working in her yard, going shopping, listening to a few of her favorite gospel songs as well as her old school music, and spending time with her family.
Mavis was very soft spoken and mostly kept to herself. She enjoyed hearing the laughter of family especially, her great-grandchildren.
Mavis definitely adored her family. She was a beacon of love and light to all who knew her, and her memory will continue to inspire and guide those she left behind.
Mavis leaves to cherish her loving memories: one son, Marvin (Elizabeth) McManus; two daughters, Reba (Michael) Walden of Chesterfield, South Carolina and Angela (Perry) Lowery of Pageland, South Carolina; a brother, Bobby Funderburk of Pageland, South Carolina; Lamont (Comolita) Funderburk of Apollo Beach, Florida who was reared in the home as her brother; a brother-in-law, Randy (Peggy) Austin; a sister-in-law, Wilma Austin; one aunt, Mary Francis Funderburk all of Pageland, South Carolina; eleven grandchildren, Nicholas and Justin McManus both of the home, Chiro (Jerome) Robinson of Lancaster, South Carolina, Carlos (Patricia) Lowery of Chesterfield, South Carolina, Gabrielle (Darvius) McManus-Colyer of Pageland, South Carolina, Kelly and Kory Little of Atlanta, Georgia, Mya(Shyron) Grizzle and Myliek Tuitt of Boston, Massachusetts and Christian Moore and Steven E. Lowery of Pageland, South Carolina; a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Mavis was preceded in death by her husband; Gerald Austin; her youngest son, Ricky McManus; a brother, Ivey Bracey, and a granddaughter, Natasha McManus.
